Biography

Larry L. Elliott

Larry was a renowned classical pianist, accomplished artist, and a great teacher for both piano and drawing.  Larry was one of those rare individuals blessed with talent since he was a young child. He was soloing with the Madison Symphony at 16 yrs. of age.  In the late 1960s, he studied piano at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music under internationally known teachers such as Madame Olga Conus and was a Master student of Paul Badura-Skoda.  After years of rigorous training, he succeeded by demonstrating extraordinary sensitivity and skill to his audiences. But toward the end of his term at the conservatory, Larry’s predilection to express himself in the visual arts distracted him  and a new world of artistic expression opened to him through his experience with the master symbolist. Elliott strove diligently to become as accomplished at the easel as he was at the piano. (refer to  the book of “New Paintings by Larry Elliott: synthesis of fantasy and reality, by Richard H. Love, 1984). Larry’s paintings reflect a striking diversity in their complex subject matter, rich symbolism, compositional balance, rhythm, and harmony. His paintings are amazingly meticulous and derived from personal philosophies, religious convictions, and burning a bit of midnight oil. His artwork has captured the attention of many art museums and collectors including Tony Bennett, actress Julie Harris, and many others. Many of his paintings were made into collectable jigsaw puzzles

Larry had 40 years experience teaching over 1200 students from all over the world at all ages and all levels. Larry was proud of completing his recording of 20 Chopin Nocturnes as a piano teacher.
